AJ’s Corner@Godians Assembly: 18 Apr 24 - Power to get wealth

1. Introduction

We have been talking about the power of the tithe over the last two weeks, following the lives of the patriarchs - Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who lived before the law.

We discussed a profound mystery about how the tithe is not to be taken lightly as it is a spiritual exchange - men pay tithes here but He (Jesus) receives them there!

We looked at how tithing brought great wealth to Abraham and His descendants, making them relevant and revered in society through – Sensitivity, relationship, and obedience.

This topic of tithing, wealth and finances is key for every believer no matter how young or old.

We will be discussing the Power to get wealth this evening, gaining more insight into why we should work towards being wealthy as believers and ambassadors of God’s kingdom.

2. The power of wealth

Ecclesiastes 9:13- 16

13 I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me:

14 There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it.

15 Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man.

16 So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.

Vs 16

NKJV - The wisdom of a poor person is despised (i.e. unrecognised).

NLT - So even though wisdom is better than strength, those who are wise will be despised if they are poor. What they say will not be appreciated for long.

NASB - So I said, “Wisdom is better than strength.” But the wisdom of the poor man is despised, and his words are ignored.

What does it mean to be poor?

Discuss:

What are your thoughts on how the poor wise man or woman was treated?

What are we going to do about this?

Further Insights

Zech 1:17

“Again proclaim, saying, ‘Thus says the LORD of hosts: “My cities shall again spread out through prosperity; The LORD will again comfort Zion, And will again choose Jerusalem.””

When we think about wealth often we think about using it on ourselves.  But God wants to use our wealth to bless others - I am supposed to be a channel

People are not created by God to suffer - we are the only people that can change this

We must all sign up to join the club of the wealthy in Christ – it’s God’s will and therefore totally attainable.

3. Insight into women that accompanied Jesus

This scripture gives us more insight into the purpose of having wealth and great resources.

It also shows that in Jesus time women supported His ministry financially!

Luke 8:1 – 3

1 Soon afterward Jesus began a tour of the nearby towns and villages, preaching and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom of God. He took his twelve disciples with him, 2 along with some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases. Among them were Mary Magdalene, from whom he had cast out seven demons; 3 Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s business manager; Susanna; and many others who were contributing from their own resources to support Jesus and his disciples.

Discuss:

What do you think about these women?

Do you think Christian women should have their own wealth or not to fund the gospel?

4. Close

▪ If we are faithful He will commit to us the true riches of the kingdom.

▪ Lets make a decision on whether we want to walk in the true riches of the kingdom

▪ God wants to bless His people – there is so much to be done for the kingdom and God needs His ambassadors to be wealthy

Why are we on earth if we will not promote God’s agenda?
